The Blackwell Mantle Clock by Steven Hampson Fine Furniture

Celebration of Craftsmanship & Design

18th - 27th August 2018

'The Blackwell Mantle Clock’ by Steven Hampson Fine Furniture

– A striking, towering timepiece.

We were drawn to this piece due to its fun, and unusual design.  With grandeur beyond its size it is something that be accommodated in homes of all sizes.  The Blackwell Mantle Clock by Steven Hampson Fine Furniture is a contemporary and quirky piece that would sit proudly as focal point within a room.

What was your inspiration for the piece?

"I live near Blackwell a famous Arts and Crafts Mansion house on Windermere which I often visit to sketch and get inspiration. My mantle clock is named after this fantastic place and the clock is a modern day arts and crafts piece with a clean bold design with a little oriental influence.”

What is your favourite thing about the ‘The Blackwell Mantle Clock’?

"Many people have said to me that they like the way that the clock stand proudly on its 4 legs overlooking the room!”

What materials were used to make the clock?

"The clock body is made from American Black Walnut, however the oriental looking top is made from ebonised walnut which is walnut that is treated with a liquid made from Apple Vinegar and iron filings which reacts with the tannin in the walnut to make it instantly go deep black.  Copper is used to hand emboss the pendulum and also hand make the hands."

Above handmade hands -
we love the heart detail which really adds a sense of fun and femininity to the piece.
